New born painting

This is a painting I have made for my first nephew who was born last May. I was quite exited about it, and I just wanted to make something special for him. I took the idea from a website where they make this kind of paintings just giving them the name and subject, and I loved it! so I made one by myself.

The painting is made by acrilic, A4 size, and I bought a white frame and painted those details on it.

New product

This is a design that I made at university for the marketing subject. The teacher asked us for make a design of a new product which could have success in the market. I decided to do a new portable console for Xbox as they did not get success with the ones they launched.

The design

I made the design entirely with a 3D desing software called 3Dstudio max. It was made trying to keep the shape of the Xbox controller which is a really good design and can attract the attention of Xbox users. The shape is quite oval to get comfort when it is used and, at the same time, give it more attractiveness.

Paintings

In this post I show two of my paintings. In my opinion, to be a skillful painter is important within the design because all designs have some art inside and also, I think It is easier to get the design through the software if you have done a sketch before on a paper.

I have to say that It is not necessary to be good painter to became a good graphic designer as I know people who are good without it, but I think it can help you sometimes.

London

Venus de Milo

The first one is the last painting I made in acrylic which is the famous "Piccadilly Circus" in central London. The second one is a drawing which I made when I was studying art at high school and it is made with pencil and charcoal, good way to do a sketch.

A design of a menu

I am going to show a menu that I designed for a Bar in a village in Cantabria (Spain) called "El Tramo". They had already a corporate identity and I just have to create a design for a menu that they wanted to start offering.

Below is the corporate identity that they have got and which I had to use for the design:

When you make a design for a brand which is already created, you can make changes but you have to keep his corporative colors and mainly, the essence.

The design

frontback side

They wanted something simple so I made the design trying to show clearly what they wanted to offer. Different colors for the titles of the kind of meals, contrasting with the background to get them easy to read and find them.

I used a light color behind the bar brand to give it relevance and leadership, but being degrading the color to black as the background of the corporate identity is in that tone, and further, it gave me greater opportunity to play with the typography color. In my opinion this give the menu more personality.

A corporate logo design

This was my first work on corporate identity for one of the franchises of Tourline Express, Cantagui S.L, dedicated to urgent transport and which provides local, national and international services within the logistic industry from Santander, Spain.

It was a challenge when they asked me for designing their corporate identity logo that it is so personal, and actually, when you start something from the beginning it is always a really difficult dare for any designer. The owners had clear ideas, we could get an understanding and I think I gave them what they wanted. I have to say that It was easy working with them.

How it is made

The logistic world has a huge movement and the identity had to transmit that feeling so I thought of putting in the logo these shapes which are filled of life and swing and, at the same time, they can work like roads for the vehicles.

The three kind of vehicles symbolize the three services that the company offer, motorcycle within the city for local services, a van for longer trips for national services, and a plane representing the international services.

There is as well an implicit symbolism made it just for the owners and It is that the shape of the logo It is an "M" the whole of it, and a reversed "J" the blue part, with which the names of the two ladies who run the company start.

After the logo was made, they put it in a website which was created by a computer company. I leave the link below:

I dedicate this post to one of the owners who gave me this opportunity and is someone special for me, Mbel.

The beginning of a new stage

I am at the first stage of a new life, the professional one. I finished my degree in "Industrial and Multimedia Design" one year ago, and right now, I am living in London in order to improve my English, which is in my opinion, the most important language of the world. It is the moment, I am trying to find a job related to what I have studied during 4 years.

You have been studying for years, but actually you do know nothing. In this profession you keep learning every day, you became a professional little by little, step by step… you have to follow a long way but It is so exciting as well.

This blog is a way to show how is my professional career going, and of course, to show people many things about design and things that I made and I will make. I will do my best to make it easy to follow and interesting. Here we go!
